SFU Social Insurance Number Clinic
Planning to work in Canada? You’ll need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) – and we’re making it easy for you to get one without leaving campus!
SFU is partnering with Service Canada to host on-campus SIN Clinics at the Global Student Centre (AQ 2013) at SFU Burnaby. During these sessions, Service Canada officers will be available in person to help eligible students apply for and receive their SIN on the spot.
A SIN number is a 9-digit number issued by the Government of Canada. As an International Student who’s planning to work during your studies or participate in a paid internship or co-op program, you must have a valid SIN.
To apply, you must bring the following original documents:
- Your original passport
- Your original study permit with a note stating that you “may work” or “may accept employment” in Canada
(If your permit does not contain this statement, you are not eligible to apply for a SIN at this time.)
Registration is required! Register HERE.
Walk-ins will be accepted only if time and space allow, with priority given to students who have registered in advance.
