September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. It is a day for reflection and reconciliation to honour those who have been impacted by Canada’s residential school system. Lookout for our upcoming events honouring this important campaign to raise awareness of residential schools throughout week 4 of the academic semester at FIC as well as the Student Portal for ways to get involved and learn more individually and online.

What is Orange Shirt Day? Join us on our first day through this journey to find out!

Join the FIC community on our Journey Towards Truth and Reconciliation. To start this journey, we will watch a short film, On Orange Shirt Day by Phyllis Webstad to learn more about the importance of this day and the Orange Shirt Day campaign. After viewing the film, stop by our interactive table to learn more about First Nations peoples and communities and about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, why it is important and why we should care.

The short film will take place in RM 2360 Screening Room at 12:30pm.

Find our interactive table at FIC 2nd Floor beside RM 2100 from 12:30-1:30pm.

To find more information and to learn more about Orange Shirt Day, go to the student portal and click on the banner found in the Home Page to watch an interesting video on Orange Shirt Day and First Nations.
