Presenting with Confidence: Professional Presentation Skills for EAL Students

This workshop will emphasize effective intercultural communication strategies during presentations, including clarity, organization, audience awareness, and delivery techniques.

By the end of the workshop, students will be able to:

  1. Identify key components of effective and professional presentations in academic and workplace settings.
  2. Apply intercultural communication strategies to improve clarity and confidence when presenting in English
  3. Recognize common presentation challenges for EAL students and apply strategies to address them
  4. Use practical techniques to manage nervousness and anxiety before and during presentations
  5. Adapt presentation and communication skills for different contexts, including academic courses, job interviews, and professional presentations
  6. Demonstrate increased awareness of audience expectations in Canadian academic and professional environments
  7. Identify SLC resources and supports available to further develop communication and presentation skills 

Join this session to learn practical strategies to manage and reduce presentation-related nervousness and confidence building approaches! The session will highlight how these skills can be applied across academic coursework, job interviews, and other academic or professional presentation contexts. 

This workshop will be taking place on Wednesday, October 7th at 12:30-1:30PM in Room 2030 at FIC.
