Co-op as a Pathway to Career Readiness

The FTR Workshop offers FIC students a valuable opportunity to explore Co-op programs at SFU and learn how these experiences can support their academic and career goals.

By the end of the workshop, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the purpose and structure of SFU Co-op programs
  2. Identify basic eligibility requirements and application timelines for Co-op
  3. Describe the key steps involved in applying for a Co-op program
  4. Recognize the skills, experiences, and early preparation needed to be a competitive Co-op applicant
  5. Understand how Co-op participation works for international students, including work permit requirements and immigration considerations
  6. Identify campus resources and advisors who can support them with Co-op and international student-related questions

Join us for this session to reflect on how Co-op fits into your broader academic and career journey, gain clarity around planning and decision-making, and feel more confident navigating your options moving forward. This workshop is designed to help students think ahead, ask informed questions, and take a proactive approach to their future at SFU.

This workshop will be taking place on Thursday, February 12th at 12:30-1:30PM in Room 2030 at FIC.
