Overview
UTP Stage II: Communication, Art and Technology is equivalent to the first year of SFU’s Bachelor of Arts degree. The courses provide introduction to three Schools housed within the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, providing the foundation for a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Double Minor specialization.

FCAT Minors
FIC offers an interdisciplinary double minor program for entry into the Faculty of Communication, Art, and Technology (FCAT). Students have the option of choosing either both minors from FCAT or only one minor in FCAT and another minor from their program of choice. Students are required to complete the required courses to transfer into at least one of the following minors from FCAT:

Students will gain admission to FCAT upon completion of the 10 prescribed courses in the UTP Stage II program with an overall GPA of 2.5 and with a grade of C- or better in all courses. Admission to Contemporary Arts Minors may also require a portfolio, audition or interview. Your UTP Stage II program may include a mandatory non-credit academic literacy course. Program Requirements
To transfer into the Double Minor Program in the Faculty of Communications, Arts, and Technology, students must complete the requirements listed below, which include at least one ‘W’ and one ‘Q’ course.

A minimum admission CGPA of 2.50, based on a minimum of 10 courses (at least 30 units and with a grade of C- or better in all pathway courses); and a minimum GPA of 2.50 on required FCAT pathway courses, will guarantee admittance to FCAT for successful transfer students from FIC.
All (direct) students are required to take (and pass) ILS101/ILSA101 – Integrated Learning Skills and ALC099/ALAC099 – Academic Literacy Course in their first term of study unless exempted. For ALC exempted requirements, please check the English requirements page*
