Walking Together: Truth & Reconciliation Day at BVM

What’s Happening:
Join us for a meaningful gathering at Burnaby Village Museum focused on Truth & Reconciliation. The highlight will be a weaving revitalization workshop led by acclaimed host-nation weaver Rita Kompst. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn about Coast Salish weaving traditions: their importance, techniques, cultural meanings, and the role they play in sustaining Indigenous identity and knowledge.

Why It Matters:
Weaving is not just craft—it carries stories, languages, connection to land, relations and community. This event offers an opportunity to see, learn, and participate in reviving traditions that were disrupted, to recognize Indigenous resilience, and to take action in reconciliation through cultural learning.
