University Transfer Program Stage II in Computing Science

The University Transfer Program (UTP) Stage II in Engineering Science provides the foundation courses and University requirements that lead to further studies in areas including Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Physics and Mechatronic Systems Engineering.

 

Required courses

  • CMPT120 – Introduction to Computing Science & Programming I
  • CMPT125 – Introduction to Computing Science & Programming II (Prerequisite: CMPT120 with C- minimum grade)
  • CMPT150 – Introduction to Computer Design (Strongly recommended: MACM101 & CMPT120)
  • MATH151 – Calculus I
  • MATH152 – Calculus II (Prerequisite: MATH151 with C- minimum grade)
  • ECON103 – Principles of Microeconomics
  • MACM101 – Discrete Mathematics
  • BISC100 – Introduction to Biology
  • ENGL101 – Intro to Fiction  OR  ENGL105 – Intro to Issues in Literature & Culture (Prerequisite: Open to continuing students only)

    Mixed Program - Combined English language and academic program

    The Mixed Program is designed specifically for those students whose English language proficiency is slightly below that required to undertake a full academic load. This program combines full-time English language study delivered at FIC on the Burnaby campus with two academic courses from the UTP Stage I or UTP Stage II. A minimum IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent is required for the Mixed Program.

    You must complete a minimum of 30 units at FIC with an overall GPA of 2.5 and with a grade of C- or better in all courses upon completion of UTP Stage II, in order to be guaranteed admission to the School of Engineering Science.  Course offerings may change without notice.
